Acid Culprits

The whole Hong Kong city is furious about the acid culprit who committed the crime on last Sat, injuring six innocent shoppers and pedestrians. Two of them suffered 20% skin burn from the corrosive liquid on their heads and chests.

This is a sick behaviour!!! Causeway Bay was such a crowded area and throwing the bottle down the street almost guarantee a successful hit. Similar attacks haven't been stopped since its first happening back in 2008.

Although our Chief Executive Ms. Tsand has yelled for immediately arrest, but we all understand it is harder in action than talking, especially this kind of action was carried out on a "no-fixed-target"basis.

If these attacks keep happening with no arrest made, I am afraid we all have no choice but to carry an umbrella whenever going to crowded place....well, that means everywhere in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Legend

The East Asian Games has been sucessfully held with the closing ceremony on 13 December 2009. This year is Hong Kong team's medal harvesting year, with 26 gold, 31 silver and 53 bronze, 110 glorious medals. This is also the Hong Kongs best record in the Games 16 year history.

I only watched part of final soccer match of Hong Kong vs Japan, in which Hong Kong won with a score of 2:1. As told by my friend, this is Hong Kongs first time made to the final. It is not difficult to imagine how excited the players feel, after the effort they've put forward after all these years.

Thank you all the atheletes for bringing this glorious moment to Hong Kong.

Disgusting Care taker

A breaking news has burst in the community concerning a carer fed feces to an elder woman living in an elderly home. Her actions was triggered by the elder uncontrolabally soiled on the bed and over her body, the carer then shoved the elder's hand into her mouth to unleash the anger.

Besides that, this carer had slapped the elder woman for her pouring soup over the place and also verbal abuses. These actions are absolutely intolerable and disgusting but obviously this case is only an ice cap of the iceberg.

The statement expressed by the magistrate is stunning, the carer will be "punished and condemned by heaven". In Chinese "必遭天遣"!! wow~

After reading the news, I said "Despite what happened in this case, it's actually a pathetic life to live in an elderly home, seems they are just waiting they end to come. Are we so doomed by the end of our life?"

Siren for Ambulance maintenance

The poor maintenance of Hong Kong's ambulance fleet has caused broke down again in midst of delivering critically ill patients to hospital. A local coroner finally burst in anger and urge the government for better maintenance, as well as more training for ambluance drivers on the vehicles' capabilities.

As indicated by an expert, a human brain could die of oxygen deficiency for three minutes and the ambulance breakdowns has caused an average delay of 10 minutes.

I like what coroner Michael Chan said, the duties carried out by ambulances were a "matter of life or death.", let's cross our fingers and hope our government will take this seriously.

Shark Fin

"I will keep up the newsclipping no matter what happened" -- that's what I said to myself.

A recent testing on the shark fin available in the market showed that some of these are from the endangered hammerhead shark found in the western Atlantic, which is prohibited from being killed.

On one side, environmentalists urge to add certain shark species to the protect list. But a shark trader, Mr. Mak said "shark populations will grow exponentially if we don't keep fishing them" and "the extinction of some species is just a myth spread by environmentalists".

After reading his statement, my first thought is "Nice Try!"

There seems to be no right or wrong in this world, all depends on which perspectus you are viewing it from. Even figures can be biased.

Dubai World Crisis

The Dubai World's debt crisis subsides in the international market since the news brokeout on last Friday. I have been doing some research on the web in order to better understand the whole situation and actually who does Dubai govenment owes.

The more I read, the more I realise this is a web of complexities. It seems that the Dubai government has been hiding many unfavorable news from investors, refueses to sell the assests at a cheap price. Leading countries such as US, is reluctant to give out a helping hand.

Although the market has gained a rebound yesterday after an impact accessment has been made on this crisis, this doesn't mean Dubai's meltdown will cease, it is only reflecting the influence to the rest of the world.

Such a cynical world!

Shanghai Disneyland

The initial size of the Shanghai Disneyland has been unveiled yesterday and out of everyone's surprise, it is only about the same size of the theme park in Hong Kong (116 hectares vs ~126 hectares), thus putting us on an equal footing. But of course, this is only the size to begin with, Disney surely will do whatever it takes to squeeze the dollar from the Chinese pockets by gradually expands the park area.

Attempting to clear Hong Konger's worries, the chairman of Hong Kong Association of Travel Agents listed several so called advantages over the Shanghai theme park.

"It will have some advantages over Shanghai as its park will not open until 2014."

May I ask what sort of advantage would this be? that we can make money for another few more years until the Shanghal park is opened?

New owner of MJ’s Moonwalk gloves

Michael Jackon’s iconic white gloves that he wore during his first performace of moonwalk have been successfully acquired by a Hong Kong hotelier at HK3.3 million. Including the gloves, totally ten pieces of MJ collections had been bid by the same person and these are going to be displayed at the MJ Gallery.

As comment by the new owner, the HK$3.3 million is a real bargain, he expected to pay more. Let’s take a minute to imagine the total population in this world that is striving for only one full meal, but how many starving child can a pair of leather gloves feed?
